Hi Mitch,
My name is Charly Tri and I run the mountain bike time trails that seem to be misunderstood in your neighborhood. I understand that this message board and our club website are used to gather information on mountain biking, so I thought I would contact you in this fashion.
I just wanted to invite you out to see our little event we hold every Tuesday night at 6pm in Eastwood park. We typically get anywhere from 3 to a max of 18 people. You would be able to see how mountain bikers actually behave on on and off the trail. We are not the reckless thrill seekers that you'll see on the Mountain Dew commercials. We are down to earth people that share a love enjoying the outdoors in a peaceful manner. Now that being said, we have had no intentions of holding a similar series at Indian Heights.
Maybe when you are out there you will get a chance to talk to other people that have used the park for many years. They can tell you all about how the park used to have constant criminal activity. These problems have dramatically decreased in the last 2 years. At the same time mountain bike usage has grown immensely at the park. Is this more than a coincidence? No one can say for sure, but I would like to think so as we have taken steps to keep the unwanted activity out. The one thing that is certain is the woods are no longer a safe place to hide for those people.
So, if you would like to learn more about what is proposed in your neighborhood stop on by, poke around, and see what mountain biking is really like. You would see us at our "worst".
Hope to see you there,
Charly Tri
