I went out there today, still very wet. It will take awhile for the frost to work it's way out and the trails to dry out. It does not help Eastwood is on a North facing slope as well (which is why skiers love it, you jerks!).
Now, I know many of you are itching to take your bikes out there, but please refrain from doing so until the trails completely dry. Your riding only helps to damage the trail and the rest of us have to deal with it. When the trails dry some more we will have a trail clean up/raking day that will make for some fantastic riding.
I thought of a couple of pointers that may help.
-If you can't walk around the lower areas of your grass in your socks without them getting wet...then it might be too wet to ride still at Eastwood.
-If there is moisture on your tires when riding...then it might be too wet to ride still at Eastwood.
-If you ride wide of the trail because it is too wet....then it might be too wet to ride still at Eastwood.
-If you are leaving tracks in the dirt/mud...then it might be too wet to ride still at Eastwood.
-If your tires easily slide or lock up...then it might be too wet to ride still at Eastwood.
-If you have a gun rack in your truck...then you might be a redneck. Oops, wrong forum.
Needless to say, in the summer Eastwood usually dries out pretty quickly, but drying out from the winter will just take awhile. If anyone is itching to get out there feel free to walk around and fill up a trash bag (I am thinking this will be part of a trail clean up day, btw).
