If you're "old school" and don't have a GPS computer here's a good article on calibrating it for accurately measuring distance. www.berkshiresports.org/index.php?ID=bikecomputertiresizecalculatorThe first steps for measuring the wheel circumference will put you in the ballpark. Then, at the end of the article there is a table that will calculate how much to change the wheel circumference + or - to put it about spot on. For the "Actual Distance Ridden" I did use a GPS. I think you could also use the mile markers on the Douglas Trail but ride 3 or 4 miles in case there's a little variance in distance between the posts. Being a little anal, I did it twice and then was satisfied with the accuracy. It was still off 0.02 miles over 9 miles but close enough for government work.
