Olmsted County is working on the park system Master Plan. Below is a link to the survey gathering feedback on the direction for our park system. When Chester Woods Park was created in the early 1990's, the horse community was granted access to the park because of their collective voice and involvement in the process. The master plan is our best mechanism to inform the county board of a citizen vision for the parks. RASC is playing a key role in the Master Plan for Game Haven. Anyone who has ridden those trails in the past couple years realizes the benefit of community involvement. Providing your opinion on this survey doesn't commit RASC to anything. Having a Master Plan that includes all viewpoints aligns the political process to serve all citizens.
I've worked for Olmsted County the past 13 years in Finance. I'm bringing this to the group as a cyclist, skier, snow-shoer, and paddler. I've been working my internal contacts with some RASC members to get winter biking into the county parks when and where the resources are under utilized as a pilot project. I personally want to see winter and mountain biking, a bigger part of Olmsted County's future.
