The Tuesday night competitive ride at Eastwood is returning for this season starting this Tuesday (4-24). The format is the same as other years. Meet in front of the East parking lot (smaller lot) at 6 pm for the start of the hard lap and go as hard or easy as you want. Each week try to better your time personal best. Afterwards we will regroup for an easy lap at cool down pace . These are a great low key way to get in a hard workout during the week and spend some time riding with a group of like minded mountain bikers. Hope to see some of you out there.

We'll be doing the ride again this tuesday as long as it's not raining out by 6. I don't have much in the tank after this weekend so my fast lap will probably be the same as my slow lap. Not sure how many have a Hot lap left in the legs after trying for 7 on saturday but come on out for a good ride anyway and we can trade war stories from the 50. 6 oclock sharp in front of the little parking lot.

Last night was a great night for a hot lap at Eastwood. Saw one new face along with the normal cast. I think 5 people had personal bests last night, which says that the course was riding extremely fast. Especially since there were 2 spots where you had to get off the bike to jump over downed trees. The course record has been lowered. It currently stands at 31:19. But it was far from a flawless run so I expect that will be lowered in the coming weeks. Next week will be the same. 6 in front of the small parking lot.

WE will be riding tonight. With the 25 inches of rain over the weekend conditions probably won't be as fast but that 31:19 is still out there. If anyone rode yesterday and knows where trees are please shoot me a message at mjkurke@hotmail.com. Otherwise I will be out there around 4:30 with the chainsaw so if your out there warming up early and you notice a downed tree please find me and let me know. Otherwise see you out there.

A good turnout last night with slightly slower conditions due to all the run off and overgrowth out there. All the trees were cut out and the trail is in good shape otherwise. We had another course record set by Trevor Olson and the mark to beat now stands at 31:05. Weed cutting will have to take place at some time in the next couple of weeks.

Last night saw a strong turnout for the first Tuesday in June. The course was running very fast due to the dry weather and the High School mountain bike teams weed cutting from monday. The fast course lead to another record lap out there by yours truly. The record now stands at 31:01. Will we see the first sub 31 minute lap next week? Be there to find out.

Great night for a fast lap today. I won't be there due to having done the hillside offroad duathalon this weekend and thus being really really sore still today. So someone else will have to take up the awesome responsibility of saying "go".

Looks to be great weather for an Eastwood tt lap tonight. The record still stands at 31:01. Theres also the FATbike record after last week that stands at 38:45. A very doable pace if your the owner of a fatbike. All the trees have been cut so the only thing to get in the way of a fast time is the jungle like weeds. No problem, just bring out your inner tarzan.

No formal TT tomorrow night as many will be busy with holiday stuff. Have a good 4th and see everyone the following week.

Trevor is the new record holder after last night with a really fast time of 30:58. First person under the 31 minute barrier. Nice conditions out there right now with no downed trees.
Of note, I blocked off some of the short cut routes that have been forming. Please don't remove these.

For those who can't make it to these events... the course is set up on Strava. Too bad Trevor's record time wasn't recorded on a GPS device...

Hope to see a good crowd out tonight. Should be decent weather and relatively fast course conditions.

I've been wanting to make it out their but I have class every Tuesday night. I'm wondering what the course is. Is it everything? My GPS always tells me I'm around 5.8 miles. Should this be right?

Yes it's everything. The GPS files are always short on the course due to the way the gps plots mileage and the tree cover etc. My GPS always gets between 5.5 and 6 miles. Then when I hook it up with my calibrated wheel sensor the distance is up around 6.8-6.9 miles depending on how well I corner.

So its been a couple of weeks since I have been out to the tuesday night TT series at Eastwood. Mostly due to the birth of my son. But I will be back this tuesday (tomorrow 27th). Also announcing his triumphant return will be Charly Tri fresh off his big book signing tour "How I done won the Toscobia 2011" He'll be looking to challenge current Eastwood King Trevor Olson. But don't count yourself out as they are both riding Superfly 100s so there is an excellent possibility both bikes will come apart before the finish line. As a reminder the top times from the summer are;
30:58- Trevor Olson 31:03-Trevor Olson 31:05-Matt Kurke 31:23-Matt Kurke

Does anyone plan to start the transition to cyclocross soon?

We don't make a collective decision to convert to CX. Typically someone starts their own CX night there; Thursdays if I remember. That person has changed every year. So far no one has stepped up to do it, but when a CX night is arranged, people show up. I know of no one who plans on organizing a CX night, but I know several who would show up fairly regularly.
Long story short, if you want it to happen you may have to do it yourself.
